I charge a flat fee of either $60 or $80, depending on the complexity of your return, as outlined below. This fee includes preparation and e-filing of one federal and one state return for the current tax year.
Basic Return – $60
You likely qualify for a Basic Return if you don’t itemize your deductions and your income sources are:
- Traditional employment (reported on form W-2)
- Bank interest (under $1500)
- Retirement income (Social Security, 401k, pension, etc.)
- Disability income (SSDI)
Comprehensive Return – $80
You likely require a Comprehensive Return if you:
- Itemize deductions (Schedule A)
- Have significant investment income (Schedule B)
- Run a business or are self-employed (Schedule C)
- Report capital gains or losses (Schedule D)
- Own rental property (Schedule E)
Multiple State Returns
Both Basic and Comprehensive returns include one federal and one state return. In the rare event you need to file more than one state return (such as being employed in two states during the same tax year), I have a flat fee of $30 to prepare and e-file each additional state return.
